Cognitive Behaviural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach that helps you make sense of how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact — and how that connection can sometimes keep you feeling stuck. It’s focused on the present and what’s happening day to day, while also acknowledging how earlier experiences may have shaped the patterns you’re living with now.

In our work together, we’ll gently identify unhelpful thinking styles and behavioural habits that can fuel anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, or self-criticism. The aim isn’t to “think positively” or ignore what’s hard - it’s to build a clearer, more compassionate understanding of your inner world, and develop tools that help you respond differently when things feel challenging.

CBT can be helpful if you’re experiencing:
-
Anxiety and persistent worry
-
Low mood or loss of motivation
-
Overthinking and rumination
-
Panic symptoms or feeling on edge
-
Perfectionism and harsh self-talk
-
Avoidance, procrastination, or feeling stuck in certain habits

Sessions are collaborative and structured, but always tailored to you.
We may work with
-
Identifying and reframing unhelpful thoughts (in a realistic, balanced way)
-
Practical strategies to regulate emotions and reduce stress
-
Behavioural experiments to rebuild confidence and create change safely
-
Tools to improve sleep, routines, and day-to-day coping
-
Simple between-session practices to help you apply what you’re learning

My aim is to offer a supportive space that feels grounded and human, while drawing on approaches that are clinically informed. We’ll go at a pace that feels manageable for you, focusing on what matters most — so you can feel more in control, more resilient, and more like yourself again.
